Wood and pellets, expensive energy makes the trend explode, as Progetto Fuoco returns to the fair in Verona

Interest in heating systems with wood and pellets is growing. Data from Google Trends shows that the search engine peaked on March 12, a day when searches tripled compared to the average of the previous two months. Thanks to the ever-rising energy and gas prices, and concerns about the war in Ukraine, the choice for many families and businesses is to search more and more for renewable energies that today are the right answer against the climate crisis, expensive energy, speculation and dependence on foreign purchases. Renewable sources such as wood biofuels, ancient but modern through continuous research and innovation in this sector. Research and innovation at the center of the new edition of “Progetto Fuoco”, the most important global event dedicated to biomass heating, promoted by Piemmeti and scheduled from 4 to 7 May at the fair in Verona, with more than 800 brands and more than 60 thousand expected visitors . The opening will take place on Wednesday 4 May at 11:30 in the presence of the President of the Veneto region Luca Zaya.

It is renewable energy, economical, safe and able to respond to the recent peak of interest on the part of consumers”, comments Raul Barbieri, General Manager of Piemmeti. Progetto Fuoco 2022 will focus on themes of innovation and sustainability, and what is expected is a great edition: we expect a number of visitors in the range of 60 thousand, Of them, at least 15 thousand are from abroad, while we will have the attendance of 800 exhibitors.”

The Fire Project: Innovation at the Center

Technological innovation and environmental sustainability. These are two critical components around which our fate is being decided, and they are fundamental to the biomass heating sector. From stoves to stoves through boilers, barbecues, wood and pellet stoves: young innovators and start-ups will be at the forefront of Progetto Fuoco, together with large companies, who have always collaborated in order to develop this sector. But also conferences, workshops, practical presentations and training opportunities, distributed in 7 pavilions of the Verona Fair, on an exhibition area of 130 thousand square meters. Startups will find a place in the Innovation Village “Future Showroom” containing the best Italian startups, and in the second edition of the “Give Me Fire – Progetto Fuoco Startup Award”, a challenge promoted by Progetto Fuoco, Blum and AIEL which you will see many Innovative companies present their technological products related to the biomass heating sector. Startups will compete in two rounds of short presentations, in which they will have to prove the validity of their product and answer questions from the jury and the audience quickly and subtly, scheduled for Thursday 5 and Friday 6 May. The jury has selected 8 finalist startups who will compete for the final prize at the event to be held on Saturday 7 May at 11.00.

The event will also host the Hackathon, a marathon in which young innovators – students, developers and talent – find answers to problems posed by three major companies in the sector such as Edilkamin, La Nordica Extraflame and Palazzetti. The Hackathon, Thursday, May 5th, at 9.00 am anticipates a corporate briefing for participants. Each brief will be developed by two teams of five people. Thus, a total of 30 students and novice creators will participate, divided into six groups. Group work will take place from 10.00 to 16.00, presentation of projects at 16.00 and award ceremony at 17.30.

But Progetto Fuoco is also about beauty and product design. In partnership with the blog “Fire Observer | Danilo Premoli”, dedicated to design and the world of fire, Progetto Fuoco is organizing the “PRIZE X 2021” Design Award for Stoves & Fireplaces, awarded this year based on the votes of the blog’s readers and on the votes of a specialized jury of architects. Lignum – Verona Furniture District companies, each with their own space, will distinguish award-winning fireplaces by proposing, for each, a setting designed to enhance the product’s aesthetic characteristics and values.

In the outer area there will also be “Progetto Bosco”, the thematic area dedicated to forestry and forest mechanization. The main manufacturers and the most famous brands in the world will offer the latest technologies available on the market today: equipment, machinery and plants for converting, packaging and storing wood into “green” fuels (firewood, wood chips and pellets), silos and loading systems, tanks for transportation and distribution, conveyor belts, logistics, machinery Professional and industrial choppers, firewood production centers, log splitters, mobile saws, forest walkways.
