After the French Olympic week, it’s time to take stock. Coach Michel Marchesini explains the Italian team’s moment: “It is great to find yourself here in this classic monument as it will be defined in cycling terms. Hyeres proved to be a very interesting racetrack and we had a very intense and varied week with fresh and strong winds initially right up to a very light day breeze. The balance is quite positive, starting with Tita-Banti at Nacra who have shown impressive toughness: their streak is absolutely fantastic as they write the history of the sport. Behind them is a team that is up and running, very strong on results even if today we can’t get to the medal due to certain errors in the fundamentals in some cases. I’m referring to Boschetti entering the medal stage final and making an early start preventing a medal or Ferrari-Caruso unable to close the door on the finish line well, as he finished fourth as well. These situations give a sweet and bitter flavor to the away game but we can say that we can be happy and smile. We have many more entries in the medal stages and the medal race: It’s a pity that iQFOiL with these conditions didn’t compete in the Tests because Maggetti and Speciale could have their say with this final look. Ugolini, Giobelli and Schiavarini are doing well, each with places in their medals. Benigni Floriani also did well, achieving an impressive result in his first medal race: a pivotal moment in ILCA 6, which, after the brilliant Olympics Zenaro, continued with this young promise from Riva del Garda. As for the Skiffs, Crivelli Visconti-Calabr unfortunately did not enter the medal race, these are good cues from Ferrarese and Chistè who, despite the physical problem due to a bruise on day one, were able to grow. Annecy and Gamba also performed well. Good again Germani Bertozzi who after the medal at the World Cup in Palma found the week a bit more challenging, but the girls proved their strength. Solidity is a term I like to use always and always and we have a lot of it at the moment we just have to keep going and believe in ourselves.”

Giacomo Ferrari: “Today is a complicated race for the medal, with the weather conditions not taking anything for granted. We went into the water to do our best and try to get something back in the standings. We did it with an excellent second. Still a bit of a pity because we didn’t get two medal points. A second after that of the Princessa Sofia Cup; but we are still satisfied with this week, which is a step forward for our growth as a newborn crew.”

Ansar sayings:
Jana Germani: “Nothing on the last day we had the medal race gives us all ourselves: there was just a little bit of wind but unfortunately the first lap was navigable on lap two, but we managed to finish the race anyway. We were in second very well, Then unfortunately the wind was a little lighter and with no specific direction and this situation made us lose two positions. We close the octaves, an excellent result. Now what matters to us is to improve and always stay on top, especially in light of next year’s qualifiers.”
FIV technician Gianfranco Sipilo: “We did a medal race with very little wind. We started very well and then the extra dip lost some places. The overall score is good and reinforces what we already did in Palma and towards qualifying at the World Championships in Den Haag. Now we will move on. out there to study the environment.”

Lorenzo Schiavarini: “Today in the medal race I got off to a very good start and kept a good distance until the first downwind. Unfortunately the wind went down more, and in the last downwind I finished fourth. I am very happy with this week and with the improvements I am making, especially given the appointment at Mexico for the World Cup. Also good is the work I do with coach Giorgio Poggi helping me along this path.”

FIV technician Riccardo Belli Dell’Isca: “This week has been positive in Hyeres with good performances by Magetti and Special. The bottom line was to reach the final and we did that. Too bad for the very little wind today that didn’t allow us to compete in the scheduled tests. In a couple of weeks we will be in the water at Torbole for the European Championship. This week was significant for growth.”

Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti: “It was a very long week, and the regatta lasted one day longer than the standards we are used to. We won and despite the difficulties we had to face every day we were able to move on. We made a great start and were able to put in a lot One of the points between us and second in an Olympic-like situation all week. The medal race wasn’t particularly good given the weather, but we did the regatta under control which allowed us to get the gold.”
